Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be unsafe.

"These kinds of items being offered, generally online, have undergone no quality control and there can be no assurance about their safety.

"You just do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More notably, you do not know the impact drugs like this may have on your health."
